Visit of PAI UAA Student Representatives to the Faculty of Education, IIUM Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, August 19, 2024 – Representatives from the Islamic Education (PAI) Study Program at Universitas Alma Ata (UAA) Yogyakarta conducted an academic visit to the Faculty of Education at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). This visit marked an important moment in strengthening academic collaboration between the two institutions, while also providing international exposure to the participating students.

The visit was attended by three student representatives from PAI UAA: Evin Nur Fahrisa, Sarah Sofy Amanda, and Dyah Laily Miftakul Janah. They were warmly welcomed by Prof. Dr. Suhailah binti Hussien, Dean of the Faculty of Education at IIUM. The purpose of the visit was to deepen the students’ understanding of the education system at IIUM and explore opportunities for collaboration in various fields, including student exchange, research, and other academic partnerships. Prof. Dr. Suhailah expressed her appreciation for the visit and hoped that it would mark the beginning of a closer relationship between the two faculties.

Dr. Ahmad Salim, M.Pd., Dean of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FITK) at Universitas Alma Ata, expressed his hopes that the students would make the most of this opportunity. According to him, the visit is a valuable chance for UAA students to observe firsthand how education systems in other countries operate, especially at IIUM, one of the leading universities in Asia. He hoped the students would learn a great deal from this experience and bring back insights and knowledge that could be applied in Indonesia.

As part of the visit, the students were given a campus tour of IIUM, visiting several faculties and educational facilities. They also participated in an academic discussion on contemporary issues in Islamic education, organized by IIUM faculty members. This discussion aimed to broaden the perspectives of PAI UAA students on the challenges and opportunities facing Islamic education in the era of globalization.

The PAI UAA students were highly enthusiastic about the visit. Evin Nur Fahrisa, one of the student representatives, stated that the visit provided invaluable experience and broadened their understanding of Islamic education on an international level. She also expressed her hope that the lessons learned at IIUM could be applied in their studies at Universitas Alma Ata.

This visit by PAI UAA student representatives to the Faculty of Education at IIUM Malaysia is an important step in fostering stronger and mutually beneficial international relations between the two institutions. Through collaboration and the exchange of knowledge, it is hoped that positive synergies will emerge in the development of Islamic education in both countries. Universitas Alma Ata remains committed to expanding its academic collaborations to enhance the quality of education and provide the best possible experiences for its students.
