Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training – Climbing mountains is so much fun, right? Not only teenagers, but even adults enjoy it. But, don’t forget, bro, the risks can be scary if not properly anticipated. Before trekking, it’s super important to read a prayer, asking for protection from Allah SWT. So our journey can be safe and smooth. Here are the prayers:
Safety Prayer
Bro, for those of you who love mountain climbing, here’s a cool prayer that can make your journey even safer. Listen up, this prayer is from the narration of the companion Ibn Umar, recorded in Sahih Bukhari, Volume II, by Muhammad Ismail al-Bukhari, page 637. Our Prophet once said:
“لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ، وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ، آيِبُونَ، تَائِبُونَ، عَابِدُونَ، سَاجِدُونَ، لِرَبِّنَا حَامِدُونَ، صَدَقَ اللَّهُ وَعْدَهُ، وَنَصَرَ عَبْدَهُ، وَهَزَمَ الْأَحْزَابَ وَحْدَهُ”
Meaning: “There is no god but Allah alone, He has no partners. His is the dominion and all praise, and He is able to do all things. We return, repent, worship, prostrate, and praise our Lord. Allah has fulfilled His promise, helped His servant, and defeated the enemies by Himself.”
Prayer for Protection from Dangers During the Journey
Wow, for those of you who are preparing for a trip, here’s another prayer that can make your journey safer, folks! This prayer is found in Mirqat al-Mafatih, by Ali ibn Sultan Muhammad al-Qari, in Volume IV, page 353.
“اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْهَدْمِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ التَّرَدِّي وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْغَرَقِ وَالْحَرَقِ وَالْهَرَمِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ يَتَخَبَّطَنِي الشَّيْطَانُ عِنْدَ الْمَوْتِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ أَمُوتَ فِي سَبِيلِكَ مُدْبِرًا وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ أَمُوتَ لَدِيغًا”
Meaning: “O Allah, truly I seek refuge in You from being crushed (landslide), and I seek refuge in You from falling, and I seek refuge in You from drowning (flood), burning, and helplessness. And I seek refuge in You from the devil deceiving me at the time of death, and I seek refuge in You from dying while turning away from Your path (apostasy), and I seek refuge in You from dying by being stung.” (HR Abu Dawud).
Prayer for Protection and Safety
Yo, friends who love mountain climbing! When we climb to the peak, it doesn’t hurt to read a prayer asking for protection and safety from Allah SWT. So our climb can be smooth and safe.
“بِسْمِ اللهِ، وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ، اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ يَا اللهُ بِعَظَمَتِكَ وَجَلَالِكَ وَكَرَمِكَ وَقُدْرَتِكَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ، أَنْ تَجْعَلَ لِي سَلَامَةً فِي سَمْعِي وَبَصَرِي وَدِينِي وَأَهْلِي وَمَالِي، وَأَنْ تَتَوَفَّانِي مُسْلِمًا وَأَنْ تُدْخِلَنِي الْجَنَّةَ”
Meaning: “In the name of Allah, and there is no power and no strength except with Allah. O Allah, I truly ask You, O Allah, with Your greatness, majesty, generosity, and power over all things, to grant me safety in my hearing, my sight, my religion, my family, and my wealth. And that You let me die as a Muslim and admit me to paradise.”
