9 Peace Verses in the Koran

Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training – Peace is truly crucial, guys, for maintaining our lives in this world. On the international stage, peace is the foundation. It enables countries to collaborate and for us to progress. Without peace, conflicts would persist, leading to chaos, destroying social relations, and hindering development. Therefore, we must all support and promote peace to make the world a safer and more comfortable place. Alma Ata University can be a suitable place to gain a deeper understanding of the Islamic perspective on peace and how this message of peace can be applied in the global community.

Islam also plays a significant role in this matter. In its teachings, Islam strongly emphasizes peace. The Quran, our holy book, continually reminds us of the importance of living in peace. For Islam, peace is not just about the absence of conflict but also about justice, equality, and respect for human rights. In the Quran, there are 9 verses about peace that serve as the main foundation for Muslims to uphold harmony and justice. So, let’s maintain and spread this message of peace, guys!

In navigating differences, whether among fellow Muslims or in a broader context, it is very important for us to respect and try to understand one another. Islam encourages us to stay harmonious and resolve issues through constructive dialogue. Respecting differences, whether in religion, culture, or viewpoints, is key to avoiding conflicts that could disrupt peace.

By deeply understanding differences and taking preventive actions, we, as Muslims, can maintain unity and peace in the global community. The Quran also emphasizes the importance of being a balanced community, known as ummatan wasathan, which prioritizes moderation in all things. So, peace is not just an individual responsibility but also a collective responsibility for us as Muslims to build a just and prosperous society.

We are taught to prioritize dialogue, tolerance, and peaceful conflict resolution. Support for peace can be an important theme that can be explored further in the academic environment at Alma Ata University, encouraging a deeper understanding of the importance of peace in a global context.

Islam strictly forbids acts of violence, indiscriminate killing, and environmental destruction during conflicts. These principles strongly advocate for humanity and steer us away from baseless violence. Additionally, Islam views justice as one of its core values. The Quran states:

This means: “O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah, even if it be against yourselves or parents and relatives. Whether one is rich or poor, Allah is more worthy of both. So follow not [personal] inclination, lest you not be just. And if you distort [your testimony] or refuse [to give it], then indeed Allah is ever acquainted with what you do.”

Ensuring peace is a frequent message conveyed in the Quran, the primary source of Islamic teachings. Here are the 9 Peace Verses in the Quran that are very important for us, as Muslims, to maintain peace and avoid conflict and war:

1. Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 224
Meaning: “And do not make [your oath by] Allah an excuse against being righteous and fearing Allah and making peace among people. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing.”

2. Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 256
Meaning: “There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion. The right course has become clear from the wrong. So whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no break in it. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing.”

3. Surah Ali Imran, verse 103
Meaning: “And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. And remember the favor of Allah upon you – when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together and you became, by His favor, brothers. And you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you may be guided.”

4. Surah An-Nisa, verse 90
Meaning: “Except for those who take refuge with a people between yourselves and whom is a treaty or those who come to you with hearts strained at [the prospect of] fighting you or fighting their own people. And if Allah had willed, He could have given them power over you, and they would have fought you. So if they remove themselves from you and do not fight you and offer you peace, then Allah has not made for you a cause [for fighting] against them.”

5. Surah An-Nisa, verse 114
Meaning: “No good is there in much of their private conversation, except for those who enjoin charity or that which is right or conciliation between people. And whoever does that seeking means to the approval of Allah – then We are going
