The Story of the Debate Between Prophet Musa and Prophet Adam About Sin and Expulsion from Paradise

The Story of the Debate Between Prophet Musa and Prophet Adam About Sin and Expulsion from Paradise

Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training – This story is very interesting, bro! So, Prophet Musa (Moses) and Prophet Adam once met at Prophet Musa’s request. Imagine a meeting of great figures in the heavens. The timing cannot be determined, but this meeting truly happened based on revelation and information from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) also experienced a similar meeting during the Isra’ and Mi’raj event, where he led the prayers of the prophets in Al-Aqsa Mosque and conversed with several prophets, including Prophet Musa.

The purpose of Prophet Musa meeting Prophet Adam was to question why Prophet Adam committed the sin that led to his expulsion from Paradise. However, Prophet Adam had a strong argument that left Prophet Musa speechless, and the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) himself testified to the strength of Prophet Adam’s argument that defeated Prophet Musa.

According to a hadith narrated by Muslim, it is told that Prophet Musa accused Prophet Adam of the sin that caused humanity to live in the world with all its difficulties. However, Prophet Adam responded by reminding Prophet Musa that everything that happened had been decreed by Allah long before he was created. Prophet Adam stated that the sin he committed was already written in Allah’s book forty years before he was created.

Adam explained that Musa, who was chosen by Allah with revelation and given the Torah, could not blame him for an act that had already been decreed by Allah. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) affirmed that Prophet Adam successfully defeated Prophet Musa in that debate.

This story shows that although Prophet Musa experienced many hardships and difficulties, such as fleeing from Egypt and becoming a shepherd in Madyan, he realized that all of this was part of the destiny decreed by Allah. Prophet Musa might have felt that humanity’s suffering in the world was due to Prophet Adam’s sin, but Prophet Adam explained that it was all part of Allah’s plan.

The debate between Prophet Musa and Prophet Adam teaches us about destiny and Allah’s decrees. Although humans must strive hard in this world, all of it has already been decreed by Allah and has its own wisdom. This story also shows the greatness of Prophet Adam’s heart in accepting responsibility for his actions, as well as Prophet Musa’s awareness of the importance of destiny in human life. ??

Prophet Musa expressed why he felt disappointed with Prophet Adam. He felt that human life became difficult because of the expulsion from Paradise caused by Prophet Adam’s sin. However, Prophet Adam reminded him that all of this had been decreed by Allah long before he was created. Prophet Adam mentioned that Musa, too, was chosen by Allah with His bounty and revelation, yet he still could not blame him for an act that had already been decreed by Allah.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) acknowledged the strength of Prophet Adam’s argument that made Prophet Musa lose the debate. This story is very inspiring and teaches us about the importance of understanding destiny and Allah’s decrees in our lives. ??
